Tuesday Tip: Turmeric Tea

Well, sorta. It's a milk/tea and it cures what ails ya...
READ THIS! It'll blow your mind.  
Turmeric is a root similar to ginger that has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I’m not going to get all science-y on you, but turmeric is used to help cure arthritis, heartburn, joint pain, stomach pain, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, bypass surgery, hemorrhage, diarrhea, intestinal gas, stomach bloating, loss of appetite, jaundice, liver problems, stomach ulcers, IBS, gallbladder disorders, high cholesterol, a skin condition called lichen planus, skin inflammation from radiation treatment, fatigue, headaches, bronchitis, colds, lung infections, fibromyalgia, leprosy, fever, menstrual problems, itchy skin, recovery after surgery, cancer, depression, Alzheimer's disease, swelling in the middle layer of the eye, diabetes, water retention, worms, tuberculosis, urinary bladder inflammation, kidney problems, depression, ringworm, swellings, bruising, leech bites, eye infections, acne, inflammatory skin conditions, skin sores, soreness inside of the mouth, infected wounds, and gum disease. I mean… WTF. Why are we only learning about this miracle now?! Whatever, let’s not live in the past.
Oh yes, and those other sloppy second sisters to this tea?
Nutmeg is a popular spice having a long list of health benefits, including its ability to relieve pain, soothe indigestion, and improve cognitive function. It extends its ability to detoxify the body, boost skin quality, alleviate oral conditions, and reduce insomnia. Nutmeg strengthens the immune system, prevents leukemia and improves circulation. Lab studies have found that Cinnamon may reduce inflammation, have antioxidant effects, and fight bacteria. Last but not least Cardamom. The health benefits include gastrointestinal protection, cholesterol control, control of cancer, relief from cardiovascular issues, and improvement of blood circulation in the body. It is useful for curing dental diseases and urinary tract infections such as cystitis, nephritis, and gonorrhea. Cardamom possesses aphrodisiac properties and is also used as a cure for impotence, erectile dysfunction, and premature ejaculation (last but certainly not least..in so many ways! 😘)

Now for the tea and yes, it sounds like a total PITA (pain in the a**) to make but once you have the ingredients, it's not. IT"S TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!

YOU ARE WORTH IT!

BAM! Take them words! Live by them.
So, go on to your local Whole Foods (no longer "Whole Paycheck" thanks to Amazon! yay!) and buy a little bit of each of these. After the first time making this, it'll take a total of 10 min. Tops.

Turmeric and Coconut-Milk Tonic
∙ ½ a turmeric root, grated and chopped
∙ ½ teaspoon grated nutmeg
∙ ½ teaspoon dried cinnamon
∙ ½ teaspoon cardamom
∙ 1 cup coconut milk
1. Add one cup of coconut milk to a pouring pan. (An enamel milk pan if possible.)
2. Peel and then grate one small turmeric root, before chopping slightly and adding to the pan.
3. Grate a little nutmeg, and then add it to the pan together with the cinnamon and cardamom.
4. Keep on a low heat stirring regularly for around five minutes until slightly steaming. Do not boil as the milk will burn.
5. Check for taste and add more spice as required.
6. Once ready, use a spoon or I use a tea strainer to strain the turmeric from the liquid as you transfer into a cup.
A room temp or warmed cup is more calming.
Makes one serving (No, don't make ahead and store. It's better fresh.)
