I'm going to start posting Wednesday Workouts. For you to do every Wednesday. EVERY WEDNESDAY. We'll help each other: I'll stay creative and you'll do a new workout every Wednesday and remain consistent: win win! Your body needs to withstand this thing called LIFE. On EVERY level- we are a changing being. You must mix it up not only to stave off boredom, but to grow and change with your evolution. The workouts will be about 10 minutes in length...EVERYONE has 10 minutes.
Mea Culpa seems to be the thing on the news right now. Everywhere. What if all of these people who are in the media just said: "I am so sorry. What I did was wrong. I am and will continue to work on myself so I better understand my past behavior to never do this again." Done. No excuses that there was no memory of it or it was a boozy evening etc., etc. According to psychologist Karina Schumann who wrote a study in 2014 that was published in the Journal of Experimental So
I was told once that I write like a 10-year-old and at times tend to have the mouth of a drunken sailor...maybe?! However, when I teach I deliberately choose words with intention. I've realized that when I teach and cue, it's the feeling of the words that makes real impact upon my clients. For example, when you say you "want to do Pilates" or you'll "try", you are choosing words with a "back door". If you don't do Pilates or the workout doesn't happen...you can say, "well,
My honey can fall asleep sitting up, midday and for 10 minutes and act as if nothing happened...except he feels refreshed. Not lyin. I used to get annoyed and now I'm just jealous! This napping concept is as much of an art form as it is a necessity. No longer considered decadent, companies are finding productivity is up when their employees nap. Larger companies are installing napping pods (http://www.metronaps.com/) and smaller ones are simply allowing it as an option. -F
I went to a conference about 20 years ago and in front of about 100 people, I answered this question: "efficiency of movement". To which she said: "not really, but good try!" Ouch...except that I still think the same thing! Pilates is the vehicle by which teach our brains to work with our body better (that's what efficiency means...jus sayin). When we become this streamlined machine, we have more power for our daily activities and/or the sports that we choose. It's actuall
I really love sweating. It feels like a shower from the inside out. I've been telling clients that for years. Sweating can flush the body of substances of alcohol, cholesterol, and salt. The body releases toxins by using sweat as the conduit. Sweat purges the body of toxins that can clog pores and plague the skin with pimples and blemishes thus, helping the skin look and feel younger. Kinda makes you want to go out and get your sweat on, doesn't it? #Sweatingisgoodforthemin
It does feel like the world and its peeps need a bit of a breather.
From the natural disasters and hurricanes to the political craziness, We The People need a breather; a break before we do. Let's think about what's near and dear. What is MOST important to us as people and to the lives around us near and far? After all, we really are on the same team but sometimes get so caught up in the competition of it all. Find something or someone that can help you catch your breath
If I had a dime... Maybe boredom is a good thing! What if it forces one to create change? That’s the conclusion of many fascinating recent studies. In one, researchers asked a group of subjects to do something boring, like copying out numbers from a phone book, and then take tests of creative thinking, such as devising uses for a pair of cups. The result? Bored subjects came up with more ideas than a non-bored control group, and their ideas were often more creative. Next tim
